Review: One Small Act of Kindness by Lucy Dillon

What can you do to make the world a better place?

Libby and her husband Jason have moved back to his hometown to turn the family B&B into a boutique hotel. They have left London behind and all the memories - good and bad - that went with it.

The injured woman Libby finds lying in the remote country road has lost her memory. She doesn't know why she came to be there, and no one seems to be looking for her.

When Libby offers to take her in, this one small act of kindness sets in motion a chain of events that will change many people's lives . . .

Review:  Aww this was a proper-heartwarming novel with some strong messages in but also just a completely enjoyable read! I bought this book on audiobook and basically listened to it from start to finish over 3 days i just didn't want it to end! One of the best things for me about this book was that hope, that hope that there are still people out there who are willing to offer up kindness and support and willing to go out of their way for people they might not even know! Pure optimism at its best!

Like Lucy Dillon's last novel., this book features a very strong female lead. This is always something that I like in books but Libby is particularly strong and doesn't let things bring her down. Towards the end of the book i really feel like she basically becomes superwoman, dealing with everything all at once and zapping all bad things away. I really liked the character of the mystery woman as well (I won't spoil the storyline surrounding her actual name) she was also a lovely person and does some acts of kindness of her won. The wonderful thing is that she really grows and changes over the course of the novel and the relationship between her and Libby does too which was wonderful to see.

Of course there are slightly less-nice characters in the book too. I have to say i loved to hate many of the other supporting characters, two of them men who simply didn't know how good they had it, a classic situation that is totally true to life but also an interesting mother-in-law who brings a whole lot of complication to the table. Ultimately though, despite all these other characters who aren't as generous with their time, it is still a truly hug-worthy story!

I also thought that it was interesting to have a novel set in a hotel rather than just a normal house or various people's homes. I really liked this aspect of it and the interior design of the hotel was an interesting sub-plot which i found myself really invested in! I just really enjoyed this book, It was thought-provoking and yet a really fast read because of how compelling it was and how intrigued i found myself about who this mystery woman was and what her story was. I really recommend this to readers whether you are a previous fan of Lucy Dillon's novels-I fell sure you will enjoy this!
